When learning between the legs crossover dribbling, you will execute the skills in three steps. Again, as you progress with the skill and in the advance stages, you will try to execute steps two and three simultaneously after crossing the basketballs between your legs. You will start the skill in the same position as the position as the
side stationary dribbling stances, with your left (off-foot) forward. Dribbling the basketball on the floor just inside and in front of your lead, right-foot. Keep your off left-hand bent at the elbow in front of you to protect the basketball.
From the left side stationary position, cross the basketball in a square "V" motion to the left side. The basketball should cross under the upper leg (thigh), which is almost parallel to the floor in a slightly forward path.
As you pick up the basketball with your left-hand, drop your off left-foot back to an even stance.
Immediately, step forward with your right foot into the opposite side, stationary stance.
In order to maintain control and keep your head up, cross the basketball low between your legs then, lower your off-hand to meet the basketball. As soon as the basketball touches your hand, get into the side, stationary stance using the two-step.
Cross the basketball in a slightly forward path to keep it in front of you. IF you cross it in a backward path, you will have to turn back and look for the basketball thus, losing sight of the defense player, and your vantage point or forward progress.
