Stationary Dribbling Fundamentals (Side Stance)

In the stationary side stance:
  1. Assume a solid side stance with your feet shoulders width apart.
  2. Flex your knees slightly (like sitting on a high stool).
  3. Keep your back straight, head up, and eyes looking forward.
  4. From the stationary side position, your front or lead foot is called the off-foot.
  5. The back or rear foot is called the strong foot.

Dribble the basketball on the floor just inside and your rear or lead foot. Bend your outside arm (off-arm) at the elbow, and keep in front of your body to protect the basketball. This stationary side position will allow you to maintain good balance, basketball control, and see the whole floor when dribbling the basketball.
